Weekend roundup

It was one of those weekends where it just feels like a I got a lot of stuff done I've been meaning to do for awhile. And then got some other stuff done on top of that. Productive would be the word. I know weekends are made for relaxing, but I like the feeling of accomplishing things.

Saturday, I went to the hardware store and got some brackets to attach our license plates. Then I attached them. This was something that needed done a long time ago. Emily took the last of the winter plastic off the windows and I reattached the handles to them. I am the worst handyman in the world, but I did a pretty good job. We went to the store and bought a lot of groceries after that, and then Emily and I made jambalaya, from a recipe my friend Stephen sent me. The recipe made a ton and it tasted great. (Thanks, Stephen!) Why did we make jambalaya? Why not. I have discovered recently that I like to be in the kitchen, making stuff. I think that is because I like to eat.

Today, Sunday, I ran a 5K in the fastest time I ever have run a 5K (23:48 with 7:40 splits, if you'd like to know). I ran with my friend Ed, who encouraged me and paced me and even let me finish a milisecond before him. Ed is a more seasoned (more seasoned = better) runner than I am, so I was glad just to have kept up. Then, Emily and I had a nice breakfast at home and went to church and then out for lunch and to get frozen yogurt. (Okay, I know, frozen yogurt...uh...that sounds like a nice manly treat...well, this is really good frozen yogurt, so just lay the heck off.) Then we took a nap and went to small group and came home and did homework, the both of us. So, yeah. Lotta stuff done. I like the feel of it.

Though don't get me wrong...I also like the feel of kicking back on the couch, drinking a beer and watching baseball all afternoon. This just didn't happen to be the weekend for it.
